Billy Mello is a music producer and DJ born in Brazil, also known as “DJ Maestro Billy“, who has lived in Germany since 2015 to seek new experiences and focus on research and music production for new media.
In Brazil, for 15 years, he was the DJ for the show Caldeirão do Huck, broadcast every Saturday on Brazil’s largest TV network, Rede Globo, which is transmitted throughout Brazilian territory and to 115 countries via Globo International.
A professional musician who plays piano and keyboard, his reel includes remixes for acclaimed artists such as Lulu Santos, Ana Carolina, Jota Quest, Ed Motta, Orishas, Michel Telo, Claudio Zoli, Morcheeba, and he produces tracks and all types of audio materials for advertising and digital media.
In 2013, he was the opening act for pop singer Beyoncé’s MRS CARTER 2013 tour, where he performed in the cities of Fortaleza, Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, and Brasília, for more than 65,000 people at each show.
In his constant quest to improve and update his production skills, in 2016, Billy specialized in audio for video games and VR through Berklee College of Music.
Additionally, this move will greatly benefit from his 25 years of experience in DJing and production, due to this unique blend of the European electronic scene with the Brazilian way of playing, composing, and creating.
Now with Lucha Libre Audio, one of the most creative post-production studios in São Paulo, Brazil, holder of 11 Lions at the 2018 Cannes Festival, he has developed a new studio for VR, Spatial and Binaural Audio within the Riverside Studios complex, a creative hub located in Berlin that includes resident names like Booka Shade, Moguai, Voodoo among other DJs and producers from the European music scene.
This partnership aims to enable not only soundtracks but also mixing for Virtual and Augmented Reality and more complete solutions for new formats for head-mounted displays such as META QUEST, HTC VIVE, 3D gadgets, 360º Facebook and Youtube videos, or any other immersive experience.
Lucha works for major brands worldwide with main clients including McDonald’s, Ambev, Toyota, Perdigão, Mondelez, Caixa Econômica among many others, also having a partnership with Drac Studios in Los Angeles of drummer Matt Sorum (Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver, Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame member).
